Got away about nine this morning to go to one of the Mole Creek Caves about an hour south of Penguin. Crossed over more lovely rolling countryside a really nice part of Tassie. It's nice to drive down the back roads to see the real countryside. Drove over another mountain through the forest to reach the cave we were going to. We had a bad storm go through overnight very windy, after all we are on the coast of the Bass strait. Woke up this morning and it was still very windy and raining so decided to do the cave today as might as well be underground in this weather. When we came out just after midday the sun was out again but not over warm. We are having very changeable weather but on the whole it has been kind to us.
As you drive into Penguin nice spot.
And of cause they have to have this fellow standing tall in the centre of the town.
And these cuties are on the side of all the rubbish bins.

PT looking out from our accommodation just across the road from the beach. Great outlook.
Above and below pictures taken inside the King Solomon Cave. Small cave but very nice.
The walkway to the entrance of the cave. Could be anywhere in NZ.
On our way back, we drove through Sheffield half way north from the caves and Penguin. It is the town known for all its murals that have been painted on the side of buildings so thought that I would show you some. We stopped for a coffee and had the best date scones we had ever tasted. Real country cafe. Sheffield sits in the foothills of Mt Roland. (Above) A friendly rural town.
This is a painting on the wall just with a real old bowser pump sitting against the wall.
This is the real thing the old pub in the town.
This is a real old shop but now a take away.
PT filling up the machine.
